Friday Feature 04 Rae Beck, Blue Truck Vintage Market

Vintage + Market.  There isn’t anything Lynda would have loved more!  I have became pretty good insta friends with Rae, the owner of the Blue Truck Market over the past couple of years.  She has a love for vintage and local community which are two of my favorite qualities!  She has a gentle and kind spirit and showed me all around her beautiful farm!

Meet Rae

As a business owner, it’s fun to know people’s “why they do what they do.”  I loved Rae’s why,

God. Family. Work.  Living with God first in life is such a beautiful thing!  He is for sure the author and creator of all of our stories and I love that she lives that out in not only her life, but her business.

Tell me a little bit about yourself.
I grew up on a ranch/ farm by Detroit, Ks. ( No one knows where that is unless they are from there.) I went to Chapman High School…Go Irish! Graduated from Kansas State University.
I like kids a lot… that’s why we have so many. 4. Carson, Allen, Garret, Daisy. People say they sound like a gang of outlaws. Grandson, Clyde, 2.
10.5 things we should know about you:
1. Christian
2. Wife
3. Mother
4. Grandmother
5. Ping Pong Champion ( which one doesn’t belong?)
What do you do for a living?
I’m a teacher.  My dad said being a teacher is a good 2nd income. So that’s what I did.
What does an average day look like for you?
An average day now looks like me teaching 5th grade and then spending the evening outside with my family.
Tell me, if you could talk to yourself at 18, what would you say?
At 18…” I can do anything, and I’m going to do it better than you”. That’s competitive cowgirl voice.
What are your hobbies?
Being outside, cooking, quilting, gardening, raising chickens.( I’ve become my grandmother. That’s a compliment.)
What do you do for fun?
I’m happy doing exactly what I’m doing now. I like staying on the farm and taking care of my family. Exactly what I said I wouldn’t do when I was growing up.
Where are you located?
We are right in the middle of Hutch, Mac, Hesston, Newton.
This is called Lynda’s Local, so you know I am going to ask, if you were to support a local business, where would you go?
My daughter and grandson are coming up for the weekend. We will probably hit downtown Hutch and visit Farmer’s Market, Smith’s Market, Bear Blessings, and The Etcetera Shop. We like Qdoba.
Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 9 AM CDT – 4 PM CDT Rae and her family will be hosting the Blue Truck Vintage Market.  If you are a vendor and want to join the market, check out her Facebook page. If you are a local and want to go, I have been every year and LOVE it.  The vendors are always fun and it is a great way to kick off the holiday season with your girlfriends!
Thank you, Rae, for letting me come out to the farm and enjoy a cool crisp morning in your space!  I just adore you!
