This is my girl Jess, she is killing it as a mom, a wife, a friend, a mentor, and now as an encourager through her Zyia Group. Mama, if you have never worn Zyia, it is life changing! Click on the linked text to join and learn more about her group!
What does an average day of being You in your business look like?
I can’t tell you what an average day looks like in this business because the business changes with what I have going on . What I love about this is I can do it from anywhere and Im not tied down to my computer or office. I can set my own schedule and pause my business when I need or want.
4 things we should know about you
When Im passionate about something, everyone will hear about it
I love, love, love leading others in this business.
I love a good sugary coffee 🙂
I have been married for 10 years!!
Why Zyia? Why would you invest so much of your time into others?
My WHY is one word- confidence! For too many years I struggled with my weight, letting it steal the joy and love I once had for myself. I worked hard to lose weight and still struggled to love myself. The first time I wore this clothing it awakened something inside me that I didn’t know I had…. I experienced confidence for the first time in 10 years! I was excited and ready to hit the road running once I had this in me again. If I can make just one other woman experience what I have through Zyia then I’ve done what I’ve been called to do… empower women!
Where did you grow up / go to school
I was born and raised in Little Elm, Texas just north of Dallas. I attended Tabor College in Hillsboro, Ks and haven’t left Kansas since!
Do you have kids? Tell me about them
I have 3 beautiful children, 2 boys and girl. Brahnan (pronounced Braynan) is 7 and my most determined child. He loves learning new things and building with his legos. Beckett is 5 and so independent. He loves all things hunting and outdoor. Laikyn is my spunky 3 year old- She is fire and ice. She loves her brothers, books and her baby dolls.
What did you do before you had kids( if applied)
When I finished college I taught elementary 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades over a period of 5 years. During that time i had my first son and really struggled with juggling the time split between home and work so when i had my second I decided the best thing financially and for my momma heart was to stay home. Im very thankful to have had this as an option!
How did you get into the career you are in ?
I was introduced to Zyia through some college friends who sell it. I had watched them for years do their thing and use the clothing line as a tool to promote their calling. I bought a few pieces and then signed up to get more pieces but what I didn’t realize what the community I was invited into after signing up! That has been the best piece of all of it is the relationships! Ive gained a community that supports what I’m doing but Ive also reconnected with old friends along the way too!
Fear is our greatest enemy. What would you tell the person who is scared to start their own business?
Don’t expect it to go perfectly and most importantly be patient because it takes time to get established! Know your limits and set those boundaries- a new business takes time but be sure you set your priorities because it can and will take all your time if you let it.
What would you say to your 18 year old self ?
I would tell my 18 year old self that who you are now is not who you will be in the next 5 even 10 years- keep pushing and searching. In each mistake find the lesson, and don’t think you have to be “stuck” with decisions you’re making now (like getting my degree in education), change is hard but it is GOOD. Don’t define yourself based off your success because it might not always be there, find WHO you are.
Hobbies
I love running or walking outside. I like to hit the pavement and just go where I want for as long as I want, when its not too windy 🙂 I enjoy playing board games and I love a quiet relaxing time hanging out on my back porch
Where do you see your business in 5 years
This is always a hard question for me because I have never been a dreamer… I usually have an idea and go for it and just go with the flow but I’d say in 5 years I’d like to see that I’ve been able to grow my team into a community of like minded people who love what they are doing.
If you could go anywhere local this weekend, where would you go? Eat, drink, shop. First thing that comes to mind.
On Saturdays we have two soccer games, one usually in the morning and one in the afternoon….. Ive been enjoying stopping in to Hutch Nutrition for my Cherry Limeade level 3 tea 🙂 because those days drag on and a good drink to keep my energy up is exactly what I need!
I can’t wait to journey though these next chapters of our stories and grow together, friend!
